Experimental Gyroplane “ALMAZ” of Ryazan Rescue Service

 

Long time ago Ryazan life-savers became interested in light air crafts that could be used for search operations and ferrying of savers to the traffic accident place. The advantage of gyroplane lies in its stable flight in disturbed atmosphere and short landing run.

After studying all world manufacturers of gyroplanes and becoming acquainted with home

specialists the design of the mechanism was chosen.

The preference was given to a twoseater gyroplane with tandem-type arrangement of the seats for the pilot and passenger.

It was decided to use the cabin of the airplane X-32 “Bekas” that just came to be available in Ryazan.

Manufacturing of the airplanes named “Sintal” was arranged at one of Ryazan plants.

Vladimir Vesnin became the author of the first gyroplane.

The used engine of automobile “Subaru” EJ-20 rating at 134 horse-powers was taken as a power-plant.

The rotor was purchased at the well-known Canada firm manufacturing twoseater gyroplanes RAF-2000.

Gyroplane was flying successfully having either one pilot on board or both - a pilot and a passenger.

Vladimir on his own took the vehicle off and learned to run it in a short time.

At manufacturing they kept track of worldwide and home tendencies of gyroplane construction.

The gyroplane problems such as powered push-over and methods of its control were studied.

Also special attention was paid to improvement of heading holding.

Gyroplane design remained the same — twoseater tandem.

The tractive force vector was brought nearer to the centre of gravity and the empennage was developed to the maximum, it became twin-fin with large stabilizing fin.

It was necessary to establish our own composit works, using our own equipment we made models of the cabin, empennage, spring, pilot seat, tank seat. We made matrix of glasses, panel-board, cabin, empennage, pilot seat and so on.

At present the production is at full speed and using such rates we will be able to start testing in spring.

We purchased all basic elements: engine, tooth-belt reduction gear, mid-flight rotor, rotor, top unit.

We establish this site in order to have an opportunity to communicate with associates and to lay open to public the stages of gyroplane fabrication.
